Tennis Welcome Initiative

“every child has the right to participate in sport”

1989 - United Nations Convention
2009 Treaty of Lisbon

Children and young people during a Tennis for Africa initiative

Purpose

Sport, school and community

Funding educational and recreational activities, with particular emphasis on tennis, in connection with primary and secondary schools.

Objectives

Creating opportunities

  • Offer young people opportunities for change through free access to sport linked to school education programmes;
  • Strengthen cooperation and support with local institutions in the sports and cultural sectors.

Supply of sports equipment

Technical equipment where it is needed

Activities are organised according to the needs of each community involved. The supply of clothing and technical equipment (rackets, balls and mini-tennis nets) remains a priority.

Given the significant international shipping costs for equipment, including customs duties, we are exploring less expensive solutions. Despite the technical challenges, we have confirmation that the initiative is achieving its goal of social inclusion, so we are on the right track.

For us, the involvement of leading players and sports managers is essential to ensure adequate fundraising, and we thank everyone who is helping us.

Recreational activities

Tennis accessible to everyone

These initiatives allow participants to attend free tennis courses led by instructors in the communities we support locally.

The courses are dedicated to children from the most disadvantaged families and include the provision of sportswear and tennis rackets.

Training

Training new local leaders

Tennis for Africa selects young people over the age of 18 to receive training at qualified sports facilities in Italy.

Support the initiative

Help us bring sport and opportunities

Equipment, training and free access to sport can become tangible tools for inclusion.
